Do you come to the machine or does it come to you?
We come to you. The service ute is set up for field work with diagnostic gear, tools and common parts, so most repairs and every service can be done on site, in the quarry or on the road. Workshop jobs can be arranged for bigger teardowns.
What do you charge for a call-out?
Labour is by the hour with a minimum call-out, plus travel outside the Blackwater area and parts at cost plus a margin. Ring with the machine and the fault and you will get a straight estimate before we leave the yard.
What brands and machines do you work on?
Most makes of heavy plant, trucks and generators: Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo, Kenworth, Scania, Isuzu, Hino, Cummins, Perkins, Deutz and more. If it runs on diesel and has wiring, it is our kind of job.
Can you work on mine sites?
Yes. Coal mining industry generic induction units, confined space, heights, first aid and an emergency response and rescue certificate are all in place, and site paperwork (SWMS, JSAs, permits) is handled before arrival.
Do you do scheduled servicing for a fleet?
Yes. Fleet and plant maintenance programs are built around your hours and season, with service records and a monthly summary so downtime is planned rather than forced.
What about after hours?
Breakdowns do not keep office hours. Call 0473 059 626. If it can be reached and it can be fixed, we will get there.
Where are you based and which areas do you cover?
The base is 5 Littlefield Street, Blackwater QLD 4717. Bluff, Comet, Dingo, Emerald, Duaringa, Capella, Middlemount, Tieri, Dysart and Moranbah are all regular runs, Rockhampton is about two hours away, and most sites in the Bowen Basin are inside two hours.
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Friday 6:30 am to 5 pm and Saturday 7 am to 12 pm. Outside those hours, breakdown call-outs are taken by phone on 0473 059 626.
How fast do you respond?
Enquiries are answered within four hours in business hours, and breakdowns within the hour. If the machine is down right now, skip the form and ring 0473 059 626.
Do you do auto electrical as well as mechanical work?
Yes. Sid is trade-qualified in automotive electrical technology with diesel engine-management diagnostics, so starting, charging, lighting, wiring and controls on 12 and 24 volt systems are sorted on the same visit as the mechanical side. No waiting for the other bloke.
Are you insured, and can you send documents for supplier registration?
Yes. The business is public liability insured, with a certificate of currency on request. The capability statement, ticket list and certificates of currency for supplier registration or contractor onboarding are sent the same day.
Who actually turns up to the job?
Sid does. S & P Robinson Heavy Diesel is owner operated: no service desk and no apprentice sent on his own. The bloke on the phone is the bloke with the spanner.
What do I get when the job is done?
The fault is fixed at the cause, the machine is run up and load-tested, and you get a job sheet with photos and a note on what to watch. Waste oil, filters and old parts are taken away and disposed of properly.
